Meet the team
Consultant Dr Chan
Dr Chan has been a Consultant Obstetrician and a Subspecialist in Fetal and Maternal Medicine working at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Manchester since February 2006.
He specialises in obstetric ultrasound, including nuchal translucency and detailed fetal anatomy scanning. He has extensive experience in prenatal counselling, diagnosis of fetal abnormalities, invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and high-risk pregnancies.
Midwife Emily Street
Emily is a Midwife with 15 years experience within the NHS. She now works privately alongside Consultants from St Mary’s Hospital Manchester having seen the difference true continuity of care can make to a family’s experience. Emily is able to support women and their families through their pregnancy journey from early pregnancy to six weeks after birth in full bespoke packages.
Our support packages
We offer a variety of packages providing 3 levels of support from with prices ranging from £1200 to £7500. We are also available for individual scans, Midwife and Consultant appointments to complement your NHS Antenatal care. Scans for reassurance, NIPT screening and Group B Strep screening are all available to top up the care offered by the NHS with prices from £80- £650
Midwife Led Package £2950
This package is delivered within your own home, appointments are available 7 days/week as well as evenings to allow for truly flexible family centred care.
Includes
- Midwife Telephone Support
- 1st appointment with your midwife at 7-10 weeks
- Booking in and dating scan arranged with the Hospital of your choice 11-13 weeks
- Antenatal check at home 15-17 weeks
- Anomaly scan and Consultant appointment arranged for between 19-21 weeks at The Portland Hospital Outpatients.
- Antenatal check at home 22, 25, 28 weeks
- Blood tests at 28 weeks (unless you are Rhesus negative in which case bloods are taken by your NHS hospital)
- Optional Hypnobirth and/or Parent Education 30-36 weeks
- Growth scan and Consultant appointment at 36 weeks at The Portland Hospital Outpatients
- Between 30 and 42 weeks you will have frequent visits arranged on an individual basis.
- Acupuncture and Reflexology treatments are included to help with pregnancy problems such as nausea, heartburn, back-pain, breech or to encourage labour if you go over your due date..
Reassurance package £2500
This package is ideal for women wanting extra reassurance. These appointments work perfectly to top up NHS care or alongside The Portland Hospital Private Midwife Led Package
Includes
- 7-10 weeks -Early viability/dating scan 7-10 weeks
- 10-20 weeks- Non-invasive Prenatal screening test
- 28- 36 weeks – 3x 1 hour appointments with your named Consultant and Midwife. During these appointments you will be given plenty of time to discuss delivery options, pain relief options, as well having 3 Growth scans (not routinely offered by the NHS) to check on baby in the last trimester in order to help judge the best time for your baby to be delivered.
- 36-38 weeks- GBS (Group B Strep test) to ensure correct care is given in labour.
Full Consultant Antenatal Package £7500
The full consultant package includes all scans and care that you would be provided by the NHS (Predominately midwife care and 2 scans). In addition you will receive up to 13 Obstetric Consultations, 12 Scans and advanced screening tests not available on the NHS. This Gold standard of care with continuity from the same Consultant and Midwife ensures that you are able to access appointments promptly to diagnose and deal with questions or problems rapidly.
This package is perfectly designed for parents to be that want continuity of care from a named Consultant. Whether your pregnancy is high or low risk your Consultant will be able to guide you through from the very start to 6 weeks after your baby arrives. Each appointment will include a full antenatal check and scan by your Consultant Obstetrician, as well as time with your named midwife for all of your questions and parent education.

- From 10 weeks – Harmony Non-invasive Prenatal screening test
- All bloods tests required, in addition to important tests not offered by the NHS (See the website for more details.)
- Consultant appointments with antenatal checks and scans at regular intervals throughout your 2nd trimester spaced at times to suit you and your situation. (Approx 12,16,20,24,28,31)
- 34-40 weeks – 1 hour appointments every fortnight with your named Consultant and Midwife. During these appointments you will be given plenty of time to discuss delivery options, pain relief, parent education, baby care, as well having your scans and antenatal checks to assess yours and baby’s health
- 36-38 weeks– GBS (Group B Strep test).
- 40-42 – weekly visits and a sweep if you wish.
